Charlotte Clarke, a diabetic, was admitted to Toronto General Hospital on July 9, 1922, with gangrene in her right leg. Dr. Palmer consulted F.G. Banting who advised amputation and treatment with insulin. With the help of repeated injections of insulin Mrs. Clarke regained her health and was discharged on Sept. 2, 1922.
