Dear Dr. Banting,-
Enclosed is a final proof of the introduction to the insulin review. The final wording follows some suggestions of Professor Macleod, but all of them, even the phrase concerning Collip's preparation of insulin (underlined in pencil), are merely the same things shown in the reviews themselves. For example, the description of the alcohol method
of preparing insulin was written by Collip. The main point of the introduction is the credit to you individually as the originator of the idea, and I think no credit giver to assistants or collaborators need then worry you.
If you have any objection, it will be neccessary to telegraph me, as this journal is going to press immediately.
Hastily,
Frederick M. Allen.
