Autograph letter written on University of Toronto Department of Physiology letterhead and signed by J. J. R. Macleod. Letter written in Macleod's capacity as secretary of the Insulin Committee. Mentions that Macleod, personally, does not think Banting should have to take out a patent in his own name. Banting later wrote to President Falconer expressing his objections to the taking out of patents and the charging of royalties for the manufacture of insulin.
