Directors to Give Special Luncheon to Scientists and Medical
Authorities.
Dr. P. G. Banting, discoverer of insulin, is to open the 1923
Canadian National Exhibition. For the first time since the news of
the discovry became known the young scientist will speak directly to
the public when he addresses the Exhibition crowds on opening day in
the Coliseum, where arrangements will
be made to accommodate thousants of guests.
Negotiations with Dr. Banting have been in progress for some time,
and almost insurmountable difficulties appeared in the way. Dr. Banting
is now in England and had planned to remain in Europe until late in
the fall, but he has finally consented to cancel his later engagements
and to return to Canada to be present n August 25 when the Dufferin
gates will swing open to admit the advance
guard of the 1,500,000 attendance which is predicted for
this year.
